This workshop will provide tips and techniques for creating spectacular portraits without using high-tech lighting or complex set-ups. The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of portrait photography, with an emphasis on mastering the technical so the creative can move to the forefront. This interactive course will incorporate posing techniques and demonstrations for using reflectors and other simple forms of light modification.

Learning Goals:

  • the four kinds of portraits
  • Lens, exposure and setting choice
  • Light modification and reflectors
  • Working with your subject

Class Size: six students maximum (3:1 model ratio minimum)

Fee: CA$200 / $300 one-on-one ($250 if model is provided)

Requirements: A manual capable single-lens reflex camera (film or digital) and lens; additional lenses (if available and appropriate); tripods are recommended.
